Yan Huo, MD, PhD
University of Dresden Heart Center, Dresden, Germany
Dr. Yan Huo is currently a consultant of cardiology at the Heart Center Dresden, at Dresden University of Technology, Germany. He has expertise in treating cardiac arrhythmia.
He showed an interest in science from an early age, frequently attending school science camps. He was known as the boy who was always taking notes and he discovered that he had an aptitude for research.
His interest in research developed over the years and when his mother became ill with atrial fibrillation, he decided that he wanted to pursue a career in cardiac electrophysiology. He believed that further research and discoveries in the field could make a difference in the lives of many. He received his MD from Tianjin Medical University, China and PhD from Lund University, Sweden.
He completed his fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Heart Center Leipzig, Germany. He has been working together with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians to develop novel ablation strategies and screening on AF patients over 10 years. During this time he built up his research and publication profile, both nationally and internationally.
He continues to develop research protocols, such as how to using bipolar voltage maps to guided AF ablation to improve outcomes. In addition he has published 26 peer-reviewed articles.
