Prof Tim Betts has been a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist at Oxford University Hospitals since 2004 after completing training in the UK and Chicago. He is clinical and research lead for Cardiac Rhythm Management and Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Oxford University and a member of the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre. His clinical practice includes all forms of catheter ablation, complex device implants, lead extraction and left atrial appendage closure. Research interests include detection and monitoring AFib, treatment options for AFib (particularly with novel mapping and ablation technologies) and endocardial LV stimulation for CRT. He has authored over 150 original manuscripts and published many books including the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Handbook of Pacing and ICDs. He represents Left Atrial Appendage Closure on the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society Structural Heart Working Group and is the UK representative on the EHRA National Cardiac Societies Committee
